Monthly Baltimore City Committee meetings feature speakers on a variety of topics important to organizations working in Baltimore, and provide a place to work together to move on issues collectively.
Advocacy
ABCD members shape and direct our public policy efforts through participation in ABCD’s Board of Directors, committees, membership meetings, and working with the Policy Committee. Policy Committee members monitor all of the bills in the Maryland General Assembly, help write testimony or letters, and work with related coalitions. In Baltimore City, members work in subcommittees on policy issues particular to the City.
Members receive Action Alerts, interact with legislators at the annual Legislative Luncheon, participate in Housing Day in Annapolis, learn what has happened in each year’s legislative session at the Legislative Wrap-Up, and invited to an annual Hill Day in conjunction with NACEDA each spring.
Capacity Building
Maryland ABCD Network works to provide low-cost, high quality training and capacity building tools for our members. They include practitioner peer groups, Issue Breakfasts, national caliber speakers at the Annual Meeting, high-quality trainings in affordable housing finance and economic development, webinars on timely issues and training within special initiatives.
