The Maryland Asset Building and Community Development (ABCD) Network is seeking nominations for its third annual Awards of Excellence.  The awards will honor organizations and individuals working on asset building and community development for their achievements in three areas:  

1)      ADVOCACY Award:  Outstanding policy/advocacy work in the field

2)      INNOVATION Award:  Innovation/Implementation of cutting edge practices

3)      COLLABORATION Award:  Best community collaborations that cut across silos

"The State of Maryland is fortunate to claim a strong contingent of organizations, institutions and individuals that effectively help Maryland individuals and communities thrive.  The ABCD Network is proud to honor some of the most stellar community building organizations and individuals through this award." said ABCD Network President Joann Levy.

Nominations are open to 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, government, community organizations and individuals or institutions doing work in Maryland that have implemented a project or activity that can be held up as a best practice in the area of advocacy, innovation or collaboration.  A nomination form can be downloaded from the Network’s website at http://www.abcdnetwork.org/ABCD_2010_Awards_Nomination_Form.pdf  All applications must be received by September 27, 2010.

The 2009 Awards of Excellence winners were Marsha R.B. Schachtel, Senior Fellow, Institute for Policy Studies, Johns Hopkins University for excellence in advocacy;  Partners In Care for excellence in innovation; and Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation for excellence in collaboration.

The 2010 Awards of Excellence will be presented at the ABCD Network’s Annual Luncheon, tentatively scheduled for October 28, 2010 at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland.
